The Problem and Solution
Online ESL teachers often struggle with managing student disruptions during virtual classes, hindering the learning process and creating a less productive environment. This micro-learning module, created using Articulate Storyline, provides just-in-time or proactive support for remote ESL teachers.
The module offers effective strategies to address disruptions, utilizing triggers and layers to simplify information delivery and reduce cognitive load. It incorporates mini-scenarios that simulate real-life classroom situations, allowing teachers to practice problem-solving and decision-making skills.
The Process
In the development of this micro-learning module on managing student disruptions in online ESL classes, I prioritize a thorough analysis phase to gather valuable insights. I leveraged online teacher forums as interactive platforms where teachers share experiences and exchange ideas. Active participation in these forums allows us to directly engage with teachers, gaining first-hand insights into their specific needs and challenges.
By combining insights from online teacher forums with established pedagogical principles, I was able to ensure that the module effectively addresses the identified needs and incorporates up-to-date and relevant content.
The Results
Covering topics such as setting expectations, fostering a positive atmosphere, employing effective communication, and implementing proactive measures, the module equips teachers with practical guidance to create a conducive learning environment that enhances engagement and collaboration for optimal learning outcomes.
